In 2024, the exceptional performance of IGDTUW students led to 8 of them being selected for the prestigious Uber She++ program.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the She++ program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Timeline

The She++ program in India will take place in March 2025. Applications are expected to open in late January. It is crucial for interested candidates to prepare and submit their applications promptly to secure a chance to participate.

Selection Process

The selection process for the She++ program involves a coding assessment that lasts 60 minutes and is conducted online. Usually there are 3 coding questions covering arrays, strings and other DSA topics. Last year, from over 3700 applications, nearly 100 candidates were selected based on their performance in the assessment and their overall profiles.

She++ Event Experience

The She++ event held on 7th March 2024 at Uber’s Bangalore office provided an enriching experience for attendees. The day started early, with participants arriving at the office around 8 AM. Following breakfast, an introductory session featured Uber employees sharing their career journeys.

The event included a speed mentoring session, where participants were divided into groups of 10 and had the opportunity to interact with multiple Uber employees, asking questions and seeking advice. A fireside chat focused on diversity and pride inclusivity, addressing pertinent questions from the audience.

The highlight of the day was UberTank 2.0, an interactive session where participants were grouped into teams and assigned mentors. Each team brainstormed ideas or features to improve the Uber app. The day concluded with an announcement of the interview dates for the Uber Star internship, scheduled to take place online one week later.

Uber Star Internship

Interview

The interview can either be technical or HR interview. However, in majority of cases candidates have to appear only for an HR interview. The HR interview for the Uber Star internship typically lasts 30-35 minutes. It begins with an introduction, followed by technical questions that focus on problem-solving approaches rather than coding. Candidates are also asked situational HR questions, such as handling team conflicts.

Internship Experience

Uber Star internship is 8 weeks long and commences in June. It offers a comprehensive industry experience. Although direct Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) application might be limited, understanding time complexities and making informed decisions is crucial. Interns gain exposure to industry-level projects and collaborate with experienced software engineers. They quickly learn and utilize technologies such as React, Git, and Jest. This internship serves as an invaluable opportunity for interns to develop their technical skills and professional networks.
